It was called a blood-worm, an icicle of blood, a wound-hoe, and an onion of war.

- Kenning: Beowulf is full of Kennings, For example: Shepard of evil represents Grendal, Battle Sweat represents blood, Raven Harvest represents corpse, and sleep of the sword represents death.

- Caesura: And care about nothing else! He raised: Within this quote there is an exclamation mark which shows the break within the line of the story. I feel that the author used this break in the story to emphasize that Beowulf only cared about killing Grendel's mother at that time.
