- Achilles was the son of Peleus Thetis

- Achilles mom, Thetis, wanted Achilles to be immortal.
- She would dunk him in the river Styx
- Achilles had a complicated family tree, his father Peleus was the mortal king of Myrmidons. His mother, Thetis, was a nereid. A nereid is anyone of the daughters of the sea god Pontus.*Peleus is in the red but their was no man in greek clothing so we gotta compromise*
- A seer told Achilles and his mother that he would die.
- you, Achilles, will die in battle against the Trojans.
- Since Achilles mom wanted him to me immortal she wold burn him over a fire everyday, bandage him with ambrosial ointment, then would dunk him into the river sytx.
- When achilles got older he was summoned to war against the trojans.
- The Styx river was told to have caused the invulnerability of gods, though she would dunk him in the water by his heels, so they never got wet. This made it so achilles we invulnerableeverywhere but his heal
- The seer was wrong.
- when Achilles was 9, he was told by a seer that he would die in battle against the Trojans. Thetis did everything in her power to prevent Achilles form going to war. but it did not work.

- He went to war with the trojans, because Thetis didn't want him to die, he was given the finest armor. He went through many battles always winning, he never died. and the war was over.
- Someone was waiting in a tree and and shot Achilles in the heel. They thought nothing if it but because his mother never got his heels wet in the Styx river the shot to his heel was fatal. he died instantly, the seer wasn't right. he died, just not in war.
