- Ponyboy vs. StevePonyboy and Steve never really got along. Steve always saw Ponyboy as a kid. In the text, it says, "I liked Steve only because he was Soda's best friend. He didn't like me--he thought I was a tagalong and a kid;" This shows that Steve only thought that Ponyboy was just a tagalong but Ponyboy actually liked hanging out with Steve.
- Ponyboy vs. SocsIn this scene, Ponyboy is getting mugged by the Socs. In the text, it says, "I was sweating something fierce, although I was cold. I could feel my palms getting clammy and the perspiration running down my back." In this text, it shows that Ponyboy is frightened and scared.
- Ponyboy vs. DarryDarry always picked on Ponyboy, not because he liked to, but because that's just how he is. In the text it says, "I never could please him. He would have hollered at me for carrying a blade if I had one. If I brought home B's, he wanted A's, and if I got A's he wanted to make sure they stayed A's." This shows that Darry is always hard him, but its only to protect him.
