  • U.S.- So happy to have you join us Mr. Polk. With that being said perhaps the new border should be the Rio Grande river!
  • Splendid idea let's notify the Mexican government.
  • US & texas- Texas is apart of the U.S. now, so the new border is the Rio Grande, we just wanted to let you know. What do you think?
  • We do not accept this! The new border is the  Nueces River
  • Taylor- We are here on behalf of President Polk. Do not get violent unless attacked. Understood?
  • Shortly after the conversation  President Polk sent troops under the leadership of General Zachary Taylor to the Rio Grande River
  • Yes sir!
  • Taylor’s troops were attacked in a disputed incident where both sides believed the other had invaded their held lands. This is how the war started.
  •  The United States forces under General Taylor’s leadership attacked from the north while General Winfield Scott’s forces landed to the south at Vera Cruz and worked their way north to take Mexico City.
  • The United States swiftly occupied the Mexican territory of California and took Mexico City. As a result, the war quickly came to an end.
