  • Now I will push the ball, see what happens
  • See this ball?
  • The reason it moves down the stairs is because of Newton's first law. I pushed the ball, causing the ball to be acted by an unbalanced force, my hand and it rolled down because of its constant speed and gravity's reaction.
  • Now do you see where it is?
  • Here is another ball
  • What do you think will happen if I kick it against the wall?
  • The ball hit the wall and bounced off. This is Newton's 3rd law that for any action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When the ball hit the wall, the force put into the wall outputted back to the wall, causing the ball to roll backward. The net force would be the sum of the two opposite forces. The ball hitting the wall, and got bounced back.
  • See this ship? What do you think will happen if I turn on the reverse thrusters to full power?
  • Now it is going downwards at the same speed the thrusters were pushing it in the opposite direction because of inertia. This would be Newton's 2nd law because the force of the thrusters caused the acceleration to change and caused the spaceship to change its trajectory. While the thrusters were active, the reason the spaceship changed directions is that the velocity started decreasing and then increasing in the direction the thrusters were moving.
  • The more mass the object has, the more force needs to be added for a significant change.
