- Now that I know how to get my permit, how do I get my license? That must be even harder.
- You must pass an 8 hour drug and alcohol saftey program, and often other behind the wheel training to get you prepared. This means you have to wait 4-6 months depending on your training, and after that is completed you can take your driving test and get your license!
- Ok this all doesn't seem too bad. There aren't many rules right?
- Actually, there are quite a few. When you have your permit, you can only drive with a guardian or qualified trainer. You also cannot operate any public service vehicle. And, you can't use your cell phone or any electronic device even if it's hands free.
- Oh wow! What about with your license?!
- For driving with your license, in the first 6 months you can only drive with a licensed instructor or guardian, and in the second 6 months you can drive the same people plus immediate family. Also, until you turn 18, you can't drive between 11pm and 5am unless for certain exceptions. Lastly, until you are are 18 you can't use cell phones or any mobile device while driving.
