  • Oskar Schindler made a factory and hired 30 Jews to work there. He added the names onto a list-- more famously, Schindler's list. Leon Leyson was one of the very few Jews to be on the list. However, Leon later realized that his name was crossed off so he pleaded with the Nazi to get on the train, heading for the factory. Leyson almost died but succeeded and went to Schindler's factory which saved his life.
  • Leon Leyson's Name Crossed Off the List
  • I am on the list but somebody crossed my name off... My mother is on the list... My father and brother are already there. Please!
  • Hmph… Go over there!
  • Life in Schindler's Factory
  • Leon Leyson and his family all worked at the Emalia factory, Schindler's factory for a few years. At the factory, Leon was required to do "fake work" and just press a button on a wooden box. Oskar Schindler saved several Jews and his saving would't stop there.
  • The Gestapo in Leyson's House
  • One evening, two members of the Gestapo--the German secret police-- burst into Leon's house. The poles who had pillaged Leon's neighbors' apartment had tipped them off, telling the Gestapo that Leyson and his family were jews and that Leyson's had refused to give them the key. The soldiers taunted Leon's father and shouted at him to give over the key. They destroyed Leon's house and hurt Leon's father and demanded for his valuables. They continued hurting Leon Leyson's father and tortured him. Leyson was so afraid and petrified and couldn't, even though he really wanted to, help his father. After all of the commotion, the Gestapo took Leon Leyson's father and dragged him out of the apartment.
  • Look around... Do we seem rich?
  • Give me all of your valuables!! Now, or I'll punish you more!!
