  • 1764-Sugar act
  • STOP SMUGGLING OUR SUGAR, YOU COLONISTS!
  • The sugar was being taxed, the colonists would not pay the king, and the colonists were smuggling the sugar because they thought that the taxes weren't fair if they had no part in the war so they reacted by protesting for change. The first parliament act passed after the French and Indian war was the sugar act in 1764
  • Sugar
  • LAUGHING
  • NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION
  • 1765-Sons of liberty
  • NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION
  • NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION
  • 5 killed and 8 injured in Boston massacre, due to British soldiers
  • March 5th, 1770-Boston massacre
  • One of the 5 people who had been shot was Crispus Attucks who then became the first person to be killed in the American revolution
  • The sugar act was the first tax on the American colonists by the British parliament. The goal was to raise money through the taxes paid by the colonists. Colonists responded by protesting and take action. I chose this act because it was the act that led to so many other taxes and laws like the stamp act, quartering acts , tea act and so many other acts.
  • 1773-Boston tea party
  • Administration Justice Act: Any colonist that started riot or did not follow the rules could be executedMassachusetts Government Act: The parliament got mad that the colonists wanted their independence so they took over the colonies with more royal controlQuartering Act:British parliament quartered the troops in Castle William, not Boston here they were needed more.Boston Port Act: They shut down all the ports in Boston until they paid off the harbor at the Boston tea Party.
  • I chose this because the sons of liberty were a major step forward for the colonists since they mainly used petitions and assemblies in order to speak for what they believed in and what they fought for. They would sometimes use violence to get what they wanted by scaring tax collectors and people who sold British goods into quitting their job.
  • 1774-Intolerance acts
  • The Boston massacre took place on March 5th, 1770 and it not only raged the colonists but it united them all against Britain. It started out as a minor fight which became a turning point in the beginnings of the American Revolution. It sparked the colonists desire for independence because it showed that the soldiers would go to violence to restore order in the colonies.
  • 1775-Battles of Lexington and Concord
  • The Boston tea party took place on December 16th, 1773. The American patriots disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians and dumped 342 chests of tea in the harbor which belonged to the British. What made this event so important was because it showed that the colonists were willing to go to war for their independence and for what they believed was the right thing .
  • The Intolerable Acts were laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774. I chose this act because it was a great gain for the colonists Instead of it causing confusion and friction which the British were aiming for but it actually united them all together to fight the British. The laws were meant to punish the Massachusetts colonists for their defiance in the Boston Tea Party protest due to changes in taxation by the British Government.
  • The Battles of Lexington and Concord on 19 April 1775, also know as the famous 'shot heard 'round the world', which was the start of the American War of Independence (1775-83). I chose this mainly because it persuaded many Americans to take up arms and support the cause of independence but not only that but it showed that the works, protests and everything that the colonists did was all worth it at the end as they were finally the victors.
  • Be ready for battle lads!
