- I can feel it 1872 is going to be our year! We have finally made the decision to take advantage of the Homestead act and move out west. Before 1970 all of this land has been mostly empty, except for some of those Indians, but with this new act many people are coming out here. So we thought it would be a great idea to establish ourselves here before its to late.
- Yes, I hope so! I was very nervous about how long and dangerous the journey would be in wagon, but because of the transcontinental railroad we were able to get here in only a couple of days and could bring some of our cattle to get our farm started.
- Finally our house is done! This was lot harder then I thought it would be, I am so tired from all this heat. Now I need to start working on our groundwater wells and get it done as soon as possible because we have almost run through all of the water we brought.
- I know, this heat is unbearable! And I hate that we had to make our house out of grass and dirt because there are no materials way out here. I really hope these conditions out her get easier.
