- In the short story lamb to the slaughter the main character Mary comes across a problem. When her husband came home and told Mary he wanted a divorce she was very mad. After a bit of arguing Mary simply picked up the lamb in the freezer she hit her husband Patrick. He fell to his death. The conflict she faced was she had to fake and cover up her tracks so nobody would assume it was her.
