- For a instant everything stopped-and then his hand was on the ball, tappping it away from garfeild guy and toward me, in a flash I pounced on the ball, and broke for our hoop" (Deuker 210).

- 'A car raced around to the back. the other one was up the walkway and onto the porch his hand on his gun seconds later a another cop car pulled up behinde the first. I heard a knock all the way across the street-thats how loud it was. "Police! Open up!" for a while there was nothing, then the dawsons front door opend and ericka dawson stepped out on the porch'' (Deuker 124).
