- Communication is the lifeline of teaching. I realized the importance of providing a means of communication for absolutely everyone.
- AT can be the difference maker for so many. Maya's video was really eye opening. It showed us how data and evaluation can only take us so far. We need to recognize that when provided with a voice, everyone is capable.
- AT also doesn't just support individuals in the classroom. It can provide families a way to better communicate and help individuals with their daily day-to-day interactions in their communities. AT gives everyone more access to services and needs.
- What stood out to me was seeing how so many individuals were misevaluated simply because they were subjected to tests that were prejudice against their disability. It makes me wonder why there hasn't been a massive effort to provide these students with AT devices. In the general education elementary school I work at, all students are given an ipad, I wonder why the same isnt being does for the students in special education
- The videos really made me think about how we use AT in our classrooms. I have a student who is non verbal and struggles to communicate his needs. However, whenever he uses his talk board, I notice just how much he is able to communicate. I also
- I think AT needs to be emphasized. The progress being made with AT is great but I hope the innovation and progress never stops. We have the technology and capabilities to really expand the efficacy of AT. AT can be implemented everywhere and can be useful for everyone.
