- Hi I am Robert, I am here to go to Mars. Will we be reaching soon?
- Nice to meet you, I am Williamson. We will be reaching there in about 1 hour. This is Marvin the Martian, he will be our tour guide. And I will be the translator.
- 1 hour? How long will that be on earth?
- That will be 7 years on earth!
- We are here! So, what brings you here? How is everything in Earth? I haven't been there for a while. I had been sent here to learn about Mars.
- I have also been sent here to learn more about Mars. The condition in Earth is tragic. If we humans, continue to destroy the Earth and it's resources, catastrophe will not be far. So, I have been sent here to see if Mars is a viable choice if everything is destroyed in Earth.
- Ah yes! So what have you noticed so far? Is the soil suitable for growing plants?
- Come in, this is my lab. I keep my findings and conduct experiments here.
- Noted. How long could a human live on the surface of Mars without a space suit?
- No, Martian soil is harmful for plants and people because it contains a lot of chlorine called 'perchlorates'. These toxic molecules will need to be removed before using the soil to grow food crops.
- You would die almost instantly. The atmosphere is much thinner and there's almost no oxygen. The temperature range from a high of 70 F, which is fine. But it can lower down to -200 F, which is not fine.
