Lyddie is trying to decide what to think of Ezekial. She has many thoughts of him, but in the end decides he is a friend and deserves the calf money. This shows that she is having an internal conflict because she doesn’t know what to think and whether or not she should turn him in for the reward.
Lyddie was scared, but she was able to overcome that fear and face the bear to make sure it didn’t hurt her family. This is a major conflict because it is the event that leads to Lyddie and Charlie splitting up and being forced to work.
Lyddie and Charlie don’t want to do what their mom said, but they have to because she sent them off to work. They may not agree with their mom, but they don't have any say so they try to stay positive.
