- When she grew up she was as pretty as ever, but her looks got to her and despite living in a nice home with a loving husband she kept longing for more
- Falling action
- She got fed up with her husband's lack of money and was feeling quite sad but one day her husband got invited to a fancy party, this made her ever sadder as she had no fancy clothes to wear. In order to ensure the happiness of his beloved, he let his wife go on a shopping spree and fancy herself up. She borrowed a fancy diamond necklace from a friend to complete the look.
- Resolution
- On the night of the party she was quite ecstatic as she was glimmering with beuty. Despite her looks and contentness she was in a hurry to leave as she did not have the fanciest of coats and wanted to avoid being seen as poor. On her way back home she realied that she had dropped the fancy diamond necklace. She was horrified that diamond necklace cost more than her measly life and it was borrewed from a friend.
- They spent all week looking for that necklace but to no avail in order to not upset her firend they bought a new one which cost so much they practically sold their souls. They spent 10 years working off their debts and lived in absolute poverty, even worse than they where before.
- After 10 years she was walking down the road and saw her friend, at first her friend did not recognize this poor peasant but after some talking they knew who they were. They chatted about the necklace and the party where her friend told her the worst of news. That necklace was actually fake and only cost me 50 francs a pit in her stomach formed as she realized she wasted her whole life working off that necklace.
