- A day in the cityby: Destiney Stegall
- one day a boy decided to go take a trip around the city. Firs stop pet store, he wonders how high up the fish tank is on the shelf from where he's standing. he knows the angle from the shelf to the floor is 20 degrees,and that the dog food from the fish has a length of 6 degrees. to calculate the height he uses sine Sin(20)X6 which is about 5.5! which means the distance from the tank to the floor is 5.5 meters
- Next stop, Hollywood sign
- The city offers people to go on top of the hollywood hill to see the view of the city, we know the letters are 30 ft high and he estimates hes 17 ft fom the sign right now. To calculate the angle he must use inverse tan. Tan-1(30/17). the angle would be around 70 degrees
- the boy wants to know the distance between the seal and the ocean, to figure this out he knows the distance from the seals tail to the very tip of the water is 10 meters and the inclination of the angle is 40. He uses cosine to find the x value. Cos(40)15=x. X= around 11.5
- golden gate bridge
- He wants to figure out how big the entire theater room. Sinc e the room is a bit slanted and uneven sides he can say the left wall to the floor is about 15 meters and from the ground to the top of the screen is about 12 meters, he uses tangent to figure this problem out. 15/12, he'd then get the hypotenuse of 20 and the angle of elevation would be about 48.59
