  • I don't understand why you keep embarrassing me in public. You always criticise me whenever we're with our friends.
  • Domestic abuse is abuse in a domestic setting. Domestic abuse and violence can take many forms: emotional, verbal, sexual, or physical. It takes form in all types of couples: adult, teen, heterosexual, homosexual etc... About half of all women and men in the U.S. have been victim to psychological aggression by a partner in their lifetime.
  • I'm sorry! I'll change! I'm only trying to help you. I'm not criticizing you, I'm just giving you advice.
  • Recognizing the signs of domestic abuse is key to helping yourself or others get out of an abusive relationship. If your partner constantly puts you down, embarrasses you, uses intimidation or threats, blames everything on you, or makes you feel as if there is no way out of the relationship. Get help!
  • He promised he would change. Maybe things will get better, his advice his helpful...
  • If your partner hits you even once, it is important to get out of that relationship immediately. According to the Power and Control Wheel, even if the assaults occur once in a while, they will instill fear of future attacks and will most likely happen again. This will allow the abuser to take further control of the victim's life. Typically one type of abuse is accompanied by others. For more information check out the Power and Control Wheel.
