- In 1944-1950 , Erwin Chargaff discovered that guanine and cytosine units, as well as adenine and thymine units, were the same in double-stranded DNA, and he also discovered that the DNA varies among species.
- Wow!, the bases have equal units and there is a variety among species.
- In 1952, Alfred Hershey and Martha Chase discovered that DNA, and not protein, was the genetic material in bacteriophage, a discovery based on evidence from the legendary "blender experiment"
