In The Monsters are Due on Maple Street by Rod Serling, one of the main themes is violence dosen't solve problems.Page 682 everyone on Maple Street started turning on eachother. Some people started shooting, others were destroying items that they supposed involved the aliens. People started fighting, the environment they were just in, calm, quit, peaceful turned violent and extremely distructful. Right when they didn't have an answer they'll turn on eachother, tear eachother apart till they get an anwser. My second reason is that on page 679 a dark figure had appeared on Maple Street. Everyone got scared, Steve with a gun, mothers clenching onto their children. Charlie took action and snatched the gun from Steve's hand. He shot the unknown figure. They all went to see who or what it was, just to find out it was Pete Vanhorn. This proves that people being scared will do anything to protect themselves. My last and final reason is because on page 683 all you could hear was shouts, screams, gun shots, and see lights going on and off. As the figures made a conclusion, they said that the patterns are all the same, with different variations. The most dangerous enemy they can find, is themselves. Which I can infer they just picked this street since it was calm to see what would happen if a little mix up happened. As proven, the smallest flows and mistakes will have them in horror, ruining themselves and taking everyone down with them. This proves that humans don't care, they are their own monsters and they will destroy humanity all by themselves.
