After a drink of ale, the Pardoner told a narrative to the crowd. The narrative is set in a tavern in Flanders where three rioters are drinking early in the morning.
One morning, three party lads meet at a pub where they see a coffin pass by. They discover that the corpse inside the coffin belongs to a buddy who had just been murdered by Death, a shadowy stranger who had claimed many lives around the countryside that year.
