  • The assassination begins

  • The Black Hand was a terrorist group formed by the Serbia government which was led by Dragutin Dimitrijevic. News spread of Archduke Franz Ferdinand visit to Serbia, Dragutin set a plan to assassinate him and got his best assassins. These assassins include: Muhamed Mehmedbasic, Vaso Cubrilovic, Nedeljko Cabrinovic, Cvjetko Popovic, Trifko Grabez and Gavrilo Princip.
  • A mishap that caused panic among each other
  • The 6 men gather around River Miljacka to get ready for the assassination and their positions. Even though Archduke Franz Ferdinand was warned by his spies and the president of Serbia of potential danger, he still went to Sarajevo to inspect troops there and brought his wife, Sophie the Duchess of Hohenberg.
  • A disaster of an assassination
  • The first to go was Muhamed Mehmedbasic, he was armed with a bomb but failed to act as a police office was standing near him. Vaso Cubrilovic was the next and was armed with a bomb and pistol, he also failed to act as he was indecisive of what weapon to use.
  • A coincidence for the assassins
  • The next assassin was Nedeljko Cabrinovic, he successfully made an attempt by throwing a grenade. However, the grenade had bounced off the car and exploded behind them and onto a officers car. The explosion didn't kill anybody.
  • The explosion causes the last three assassins, Cvjetko Popovic, Trifko Grabez and Gavrilo Princip, to lose their nerve and fail to assassinate the Archduke. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was determined to attend his meeting at Sarajevo townhall.
  • After his meeting, Archduke Franz Ferdinand wanted to visit the officers that were affected by the explosion. The car takes a wrong turn and as Gavrilo Princip was walking away, he sees the Archduke approaching. Now determined, he draws out a pistol and shoots Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. Both pass away minutes later.
