- How are you enjoying your stay in Europe?
- At 18 Clara became a teacher in a local town. She saw the need for a free school for the mill workers children to attend. Clara put in hard work to make the school happen only to have the town replace her with a male principle.
- Well I'm bored so, tell me about the Red Cross.
- At the start if the civil war Clara was in D.C and she saw the first injured brought in by train. She immediately telling a plan on where to take the injured and began gathering supplies for soldiers.
- You're going to do amazing work under the American Red Cross
- Clara worked very hard to deliver much needed supplies to the battle fields. It was a lot of work to gather and delivery the needed supplies she would often become ill from working so hard. Her doctors recommended she take a vacation to Europe.
- Clara took her doctor's advice and traveled to Europe. She did not use the time to rest like her doctors advise. While in Europe she met people from the Intentional Red Cross. She learned about the organization and what they did.
- When Clara arrived back in America, she founded the AmericanRed Cross in 1881 eventually she retired in 1904 at the age of 82. She passed away on April 12th, 1912, with the lass words being Let me go. Let me go.
