  • As this era between the US and Soviet Union continues, alliances are formed through NATO that benefit the US. While the Union has their Eastern allies and created the Warsaw Pact alliance. These alliances included many locations. For example NATO was sided with Canada, France, the Netherlands, and more. The Warsaw Pact had East Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, and more.
  • This situation between the US and Soviet Union eventually caused both nations to become involved with more foreign conflicts like the Cuban Missile Crisis.
  • The Soviet Union set off their first atomic bomb 1949.
  • This conflict between the US and Soviet Union lasted more than 40 years!
  • In 1991, when the Soviet Union dissolved the Cold War ended. New Presidents and historians were involved with the nations around this period for the Cold War- they were able to ease the conflict and put an end to it.
  • Overall, The Cold War was an indirect war without armed fights between the US and Soviet Union over their differences in economics, politics/political beliefs, and more.
