SDAIE - Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English
Incorporating a combination of these methods tailored to the specific needs and proficiency levels of ELLs can help me create a supportive and inclusive learning environment in my Spanish class.
Integrating cultural elements relevant to ELLs' backgrounds enhances engagement and makes the content more relatable, promotes a sense of inclusion and belonging.
SDAIE - Cultural Connections
Something I can personally identify myself with is the beauty in the SDAIE Cultural Connection projects that we would have to do as an EL. Being able to express myself and where I come from allowed me to have a place in my classrooms where I could always relate to other students.
How the Brain Learns
Repetition Reinforcement: Will help me encode the information into their long-term memory. When ELLs repeatedly deal with new vocabulary, grammar structures, or concepts, their brains become more familiar with the information, making it easier to recall later.
Scaffolding: Can help me provide a structured support and guidance to my ELLs as they acquire language skills. By using things like graphic organizers, sentence frames, and pre-teaching of vocabulary to help them understand and express themselves more effectively I can allow their brains to recognize things more efficiently.
Motor Cortex Somatosensory Cortex: Processes Touch/Movement
By allowing a growth mindset, incorporating varied repetition and reinforcement, providing SEL support, implementing tailored scaffolding, and promoting engagement through student interests and real-life connections, I can create a supportive learning environment that empowers ELL students to expand their language skills and thrive academically.
