- after World War Two because men were home and the economie was booming, they had a lot of kids which this is known as the baby boom. now not every women would've wanted kids but due to this being the 60s they didn't have a say. years prior to this, there was a bill passed in Canada that banned all forms of contraceptives which include birth control.
- during the 60s in Canada is when women started to really push for equal rights but they took it one step at a time. birth control was ilegal, women knew from science that it could help them not concvivce and with a whole bunch of other things. here's the problem, first off you were not allow to get birth control unless it was just to help with you're period, secondly you had to have your husband permission.
- historiquement; les vieux hommes blancs contrôlaient tout le monde, ils n'ont donc pas pris goût à cela. Certaines de ces femmes ont renoncé à leurs amis, à leur famille et à leur mari pour changer ce projet de loi.
- l'un des plus grands problèmes à l'époque était la pauvreté. de nombreuses femmes pauvres à l'époque ont continué à avoir des enfants parce qu'il n'existait pas de forme de contraception légale pour elles. c'était l'un des points les plus importants du mouvement, c'est d'aider la classe ouvrière à gagner plus d'argent en travaillant. beaucoup de femmes donneraient à ces femmes de la classe ouvrière le contrôle des naissances pour le plus grand bien.
- birth control was banned from Canada yet a lot of people would illegal get then sell. at the time it was rich white family's were allowed to use birth control because they had money to pay people off. this was another point these protest were making is that birth control should be available to all family no matter how much money you make
- 1969, c'est lorsque le député Robert W. Prittie a présenté la dépénalisation du contrôle des naissances au parlement avec l'Association canadienne d'économie domestique et l'Armée du Salut, la Fédération pour la planification familiale du Canada, tous ont fait pression pour que le gouvernement fédéral retire le contrôle des naissances du domaine pénal. Code qu'il était. C'était une étape énorme à l'époque dont on ne parle pas assez.
