Storyboard Text

  • Hello my name is Charles Darwin and I was born in 1809 in England.
  • I was the first scientist to explain the natural selection. To do that, I changed my way of thinking.
  • I was a bording student in 1822. I left three years later, at 16 years old because my father wanted me to study medicine. I finally dropped out of Edinburgh in 1827 and enrolled in Christ college, Cambridge university. In August 1831, I received an invitation to serve as naturalist and I accepted so I left for a 5 years journey.
  • During my trip, I went mountain climbing, I went to rainforests, but I mostly collected and observed the Nature to learn about it, and I also worked with other people.
  • I was 22 years old when I was hired to be the ship's naturalist. Most of the trip was spend around South America, but also around South Africa and Asia. It lasted from 1831 to 1836.
  • I observed animals, fossils and plants.
  • When I came back, I wrote a diary about this amazing amazing journey. And I then published it in 1839. Its name is On the origin of species.
  • Like I had a lot of success, I published more books.
  • I enlarged my field of knowledge about botany, geology and barnacles.
  • I married my cousin Emma, and I had 3 children with her. I then encouraged my children to explore the world which surrounds them.
  • I moved to a house with a big garden in which I lead researches and experiences. Thanks to them I finally theorised natural selection.
  • Darwin died in 1882, as a national hero.
