It's a pleasure, I'm Patrick Henry, first Governor of Virginia. Excuse me if my presence is unexpected and scared you.
Hello, who are you?
Good morning, I'm Chief Joseph, one of the leaders of the Nez Perce.
Nothing can be worse than what has already happened.
What a disaster and misfortune! That's why sometimes the best solution is to fight, that's what I did in a very similar situation.
I don't understand, what do you mean?
White men are what happened. With their selfishness, lies and betrayal they ruined my life and that of my people. They wanted to start the war and it was better to surrender than to continue losing lives to achieve our freedom.
It may be, but I think it's better to at least try to fight and win so that our children and our offspring can have a free life.
I do not believe that liberty is worth as much as the lives of our loved ones, so for me it is better that white men have everything material, but I will not sacrifice the lives of mine.
Rather, something unjust is not doing anything to obtain their freedom and unjust is living as slaves. Sacrificing ourselves is the least we can do for the good of those we love.
I understand, but it's not fair to sacrifice innocent lives in war for something we can avoid.
Because we decided to fight today, we are free, so I don't regret encouraging my audience to fight. Being slaves, that is not life, better is death.
Perhaps it is true, but in my conviction, it is liberty or death.
And what meaning would life have if there is no one to love, if we are alone? What kind of freedom is that? Physically free, but slaves of sadness.
Maybe it is or maybe it isn't…
That's how it is. What you believe is also valid, it all depends on how much we are willing to give in exchange for what we want. We are not perfect; we only seek the best for our people.
I say the same, see you.
They are different points of view, situations, and mentality, so I respect what you believe and meditate on it.
It's good to talk to you, I'm retiring. Have a good day.
