- The battle at Lexington and Concord was the first battle that kicked off the Revolutionary War. It is popularly known as the first shots heard 'round the world. This battle occurred on April 19th 1775. As the war continues, it will be on the colonists home soil.
- We are fighting for freedom from British rule.
- Hi, my name is William and I am a patriot fighting at the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
- I am also helping to write the Declaration of Independence.
- The Declaration of Independence was written here to declare the separation from British rule for Americans. The Declaration of Independence was written on July 4th 1776.
- Hi, I am Thomas Jefferson. I am here with a few other men to write the Declaration of Independence.
- Many African Americans fought for the British because they wanted freedom from slavery in the colonies. The Battle of Saratoga occurred on September 19th - October 7th 1777.
- Surely the British will win!
- We are loyalists here to fight for the British in this Battle of Saratoga.
- Winter at Valley Forge was difficult. But with George Washington's expertise the troops became more disciplined. The Battle of Valley Forge occurred in December 1777 - June 1778 and ended with a victory for the Continental army.
- Some men have died from disease.
- My name is George Washington. I led my troops here because of the harsh winter weather.
- The Battle of Yorktown was the last battle of the Revolutionary War that ended with a British surrender. The Battle of Yorktown lasted from September 28th - October 19th 1781.
- We are here for the Battle of Yorktown!
- It wasn't just George Washington and the patriots in the army that led us to victory, women, Native Americans, and France all helped us. Some women dressed as men or helped with basic needs during the war, Native Americans helped by teaching us fighting tactics, and France helped us when Benjamin Franklin asked if they would assist us with supplies.
