  • The colony of Cuba under the Spanish crown was struggling for independence by some Nationalist movements, and at the time, there was a US Naval ship on anchor in havana that was blown up, starting the Spanish American war. making the Quality of life worse.
  • After the war, the treaty of Paris concluded that the Spanish would cede the territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and renounce claims over Cuba, while also making Cuba a 'Protectorate' of the United States also protecting it from Foreign Powers. Socialism grew, aswell as ideas of Independent Government Power.
  • Before becoming a protectorate, Cuba was a state under U.S occupation, where the military acted as a provisional police force, military, and also political force. While being a mock Capitalist Democracy.
  • The Platt Amendment ended the U.S occupation and allowed for the Republic Of Cuba to come out of it. Of which it was a American Protectorate, which allowed for Cuban innovation and the allowance for a Republic. Cuba was independent for a fair reason
