- The Epstein Barr Virus started in March 1964. EBV was discovered in cultured tumor cells derived from a biopsy of a Burkitt’s lymphoma patient.
- Who most likely gets Epstein Barr Virus and what symptoms does it give and how does it affect the body?
- It has survived over the years by living in its host. It is most commonly found and lethal in Europe, Asia, and North America. In Europe it is 32%, in Asia it is 36%, in North America there is 29% of EBV.

- People most susceptible to the disease are old people, some people get it because they are incautious and share saliva like sharing stuff with others. The Epstein Barr Virus has symptoms that include swollen lymph nodes in the neck, enlarged spleen, and swollen tonsils and liver. EBV can damage a person’s brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Can cause permanent damage to the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Like viral meningitis (swelling of the tissues that cover the brain and the spinal cord). Encephalitis (swelling of the brain). Optic neuritis (swelling of the eye nerve. Transverse myelitis (swelling of the spinal cord). And facial nerve palsies (paralysis of facial muscles).
