- At 670 millions hectares, the Amazon rainforest is the worlds largest rainforest! Now due to deforestation it has shrunk by about 20%.
- This could easily be a talk about how bad globalization is for the Amazon but let's instead look at the benefits globalization has had on the environment in the Amazon

- Making room for arable and pasturable land
- In the late 1980's the extent of the deforestation started to become knownglobally. There were three main issues of concern:Indigenous groups who were being pushed out of their land.The need to protect the unique biodiversity of the rainforest.Climate change from cutting down the trees.
- We will save the rainforest! By using media, celebrities and musicians we will make the rally call of "Save the Rainforest" be heard in every household!

- And we did make a difference in protecting the Rainforest...but then interest waned, new concerns came in (climate change) and don't even get me started on the fires....
