At 670 millions hectares, the Amazon rainforest is the worlds largest rainforest! Now due to deforestation it has shrunk by about 20%.
This could easily be a talk about how bad globalization is for the Amazon but let's instead look at the benefits globalization has had on the environment in the Amazon

In the late 1980's the extent of the deforestation started to become knownglobally. There were three main issues of concern:Indigenous groups who were being pushed out of their land.The need to protect the unique biodiversity of the rainforest.Climate change from cutting down the trees.
We will save the rainforest! By using media, celebrities and musicians we will make the rally call of "Save the Rainforest" be heard in every household!

And we did make a difference in protecting the Rainforest...but then interest waned, new concerns came in (climate change) and don't even get me started on the fires....
