  • Slide: 2
  • NOW LETS GET GOING!!!
  • Slide: 3
  • To prevent robbers this complex has many safety features. Such as a 70m wide trench around the outer wall.
  • And the entire complex has a 10.5m high, 1.6km long, stone wall, encased in limestone from Tura
  • Slide: 4
  • In the wall there are 14 false entrances to the complex carved into the stone
  • Slide: 5
  • Here is the newly completed pyramid complex, one of a kind. Made for Pharaoh Djoser!
  • This passageway leads to the south court from the wall. There are actually 2 passageways inside this. This is the second, wider one with columns on the sides. The first is very narrow.
  • Slide: 6
  • And at the end we have a platform that you can get up to on stairs for a double throne.
  • Slide: 7
  • Here is the tomb. You have to go down stairs that descend 30m to get here. In this substructure there are chambers decorated with blue faience (tin-glazed pottery), and as you can see, they look stunning!
  • Slide: 8
  • The faience is made to look just like reed mat facades, similar to the pyramid. We also have 3 nice sculptures in here, including one of Djoser running the the Heb-Sed. Even if it is hard to access and will probably never be seen, we put the most work into this section, to ensure Djoser has the most comfortable afterlife
  • Slide: 9
  • And here we have the Sed court, for Djoser to complete the Heb-Sed ritual in the afterlife. We even have some fake buildings here.
  • Slide: 10
  • This is the southern court. We have carved some stone as markers for the Sed festival, so Djsoer can have them in the after life.
  • Here is the great pyramid itself. It is 62.5m high, and has 6 steps. I originally planned 4, but decided to change it to 6 midway through. The steps also have a slight angle. It is built from limestone, with some of it coming from Tura, across the Nile. Particularly the outside casing is higher quality limestone.
  • Now lets go into the ground
  • Slide: 12
  • We dug 11, 32m deep shafts for his family. And we also took many stone vessals and added them into the sub-structure. Some being very old. It was uhh... 40000 of them!
  • And here next to me is the tomb the king will be placed in. It is made of solid granite. It has only 1 opening, which will be sealed with a 3 and a half ton boulder after he is buried.
  • Slide: 13
  • Anyways, that's it! Imhotep Out!!!
  • Slide: 15
  • Under the pyramid we have built many tunnels, galleries and chambers, adding up to 6km in length. This gives plenty of space for the burial of Djoser, and his family. Like the southern tomb many of the walls have blue faience meant to mimic reed matting. And we also added reliefs of the king doing the Sed.

  • I'm Imhotep, the architect of this complex, and the chief minister. I'm going to be your tour guide today.
  • And only 1 real one
