- Scene I: The concepts of work, duty, and affection are the main a focus of this scene. Ferdinand feels obligated to Miranda and her father, Prospero, as seen by his effort of carrying logs. Ferdinand is driven to work hard because his love for Miranda, even though he finds the task difficult and tiring. Miranda's worry for Ferdinand's well-being brings attention to ideas of empathy and compassion. Ferdinand and Miranda's conversation shows the growth of their passion and emphasizes themes of love and dedication in the midst of hardship.
- Things pick up heat in Scene II as Caliban teams up with Trinculo and Stephano to rebel against Prospero. They feel mistreated by him, which is the cause of their resentment. This section focuses on the idea of power and how it can lead people to take drastic measures, such as plotting against their ruler. As the tension builds, suspense is added by Ariel, who is devoted to Prospero and listens in on their plan.
