Storyboard Text

  • Monkey is jumping into the waterfall because all of the other monkeys are too afraid to jump into the waterfall. So they said that whoever jumps through the waterfall will become our king. Monkey was the only one brave enough to jump into the waterfall. (Buddhism)
  • Monkey jumped through the waterfall and found a beautiful garden behind it. He stood in awe at the beautiful garden. He said to himself, "This is like a paradise and this is the perfect home for the monkeys." (Daoism)
  • After Monkey jumped through the waterfall he told the other monkeys what happened and what he saw. After the monkeys heard what Monkey saw they all followed him through the waterfall. When the other monkeys saw the paradise the made Monkey the king. They called him the Magnificent Monkey King. (Confucism)
  • One day Monkey starts to cry the other monkeys ask him why he is crying. Monkey tells them that every day they get older and older. So Monkey goes looking for someone who can teach him how to become immortal. Then he will teach the other monkeys how to become immortal.
  • After a while Monkey arrives at the place where he will learn to become immortal. The only thing he wants to learn about is how to become immortal, but he makes his master mad. The other children dislike him because when is master tells him to fetch a pail of water, Monkey takes a bath. (Confucism) 
  • Monkey becomes his master's favorite student. Monkey brags to the other students about how he is better than them. So he proves it by turning himself into a peach tree. While he is a peach tree his master comes out and hears Monkey say that he is better than his master. 
  • When Monkey's master hears him say that he is better than his master. Monkey's master tells him to leave, then Monkey tells his master that he had seen his master there. His master still tells Monkey to leave. So Monkey travels back to the paradise behind the waterfall.
  • When Monkey gets to the paradise behind the waterfall he realizes that it is very quiet. He calls out to his monkeys and they come out of hiding. He asks them why it is so quiet and where the others are. They said that a demon took some of the others and that they had gone looking for Monkey when he had been gone for a long time. (Daoism)
  • When Monkey heard that a demon took his monkeys he was very angry. He went to find the demon that took his monkeys and he told the demon that he wanted them back. The demon said no, so Monkey had to defeat the demon with the skills he learned from his master. (Buddhism)
  • After Monkey defeats the demon and gets his monkeys back he realizes that he needs a weapon. So Monkey decides to visit a dragon who has weapons. The dragon suggests a few weapons to Monkey but he just says no and makes excuses. Then Monkey sees a stick that is glowing and he takes it as his weapon.

  • Emperor Jade who lives in and rules heaven calls Monkey up to heaven, because he got a complaint from the dragon about Monkey. He also got a complaint from the demon about Monkey. The dragon and the dragon both told Emperor Jade about what happened.
  • When Monkey gets to Heaven, Emperor Jade assigns Monkey to taking care of the horses. Monkey thinks that it is a powerful job. So he orders people around and goes off and has fun in heaven, he also makes some new friends. Until his friends tell him that his job does not have a rank. (Daoism)

  • When Monkey's friends tell him that his job does not have a rank Monkey gets mad and goes to Emperor Jade and tells him that he is leaving Heaven. Emperor Jade does not want Monkey to leave because he wants to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't get into any more trouble. Emperor Jade assigns Monkey to taking care of the peaches. (Daoism)

  • When Emperor Jade assigns Monkey to taking care of the peaches he warns Monkey not to eat any of the peaches, but Monkey disobeys. Then the Emperor has a party for all of the leaders but he has never invited Monkey. Monkey gets mad and so he tells one of the leaders that was invited to the party that the party is at a different location. (Daoism)
  • Monkey goes to the party and drinks a laughing potion which makes him start to laugh whenever he opens his mouth. While he is laughing he turns back into Monkey, Emperor Jade is very mad at Monkey.
  • When Emperor Jade finds out that one of his party guests is Monkey in disguise in is very mad. So he decides to torture Monkey. Monkey is not affected by the torture they put him through, because the peaches made Monkey immortal. (Buddhism) 
  • Buddha made Monkey a bet, if Monkey can jump out of his hand then they will let him go but if he doesn't then they get to keep him in a jar. So Monkey gets into Buddha's hand and then he jumps, he thinks he jumped out of his hand but really Monkey just jumped to Buddha's fingers so he must stay in a jar forever. (Buddhism)
