- Every year the Capitol holds "The Reaping," an event where one boy and one girl from each district are selected to compete in "The Hunger Games." The Capitol created the games to show the people of Panem who has the power. Katniss, the main character volunteered to compete because her 12 year old sister got picked.
- I volunteer a tribute!!
- At the start of the games Katniss had a tough decision to make. To either grab a bow, she is an extremely talented bow hunter, or to run to the woods like Haymitch, her advisor, told her too. She eventually decides to run to the woods. This decision can be a huge factor of how the games go for her.
- Katniss and Peeta, the other tribute from District 12, are the last two remaining in the games after being told that there were going to be two winners. But when Katniss kills the third tribute, the games do not end and they are told that there will now only be one winner. Katniss and Peeta have become very close over the coarse of the games and both of them want to die for the other. They come to the conclusion that are both going to eat poisonous berries at the same time so they both die. But right before they chew the berries the head of the games tells them to stop and that they both win.
