- Hi! My name is Brinda and today I will take you on a tour through the Indus Valley Civilization.
- The Indus Valley Civilization is located in Pakistan, and lasted roughly from 2500-1700 bce. The Indus River is located near this civilization, hence the name.
- I am now here with my mother, Fatima. She is going to give a brief description of the homes in the Indus Valley Civilization.
- Thank you for having me! Our homes are typically made out of mud bricks that dry in the sun. One important thing to note is our flat roofs, which are perfect for fun games and playtime for the kids. Wealthy people live in bigger houses surrounding courtyards
- I am now here with one of my close friends, Antonio. He is going to tell us about the sewer system in the Indus Valley Civilization.
- In the Indus Valley we use something called a "Shower Tray". This is where we use the bathroom. We also pour a jar of water over ourselves to keep clean. Our sewer system is made out of clay pipes that flow into a drain in the street.
- For our next destination, we visit The Great Bath! Aanya, an acquaintance of mine, give going to tell us how this place is sacred to Hinduism.
- The Great Bath is a very important place in Hinduism. Bathing in Hinduism is a sign of purity, so we use this bath for religious rituals.
- And now I will join my father on our boat. He is going to provide some information regarding the seals in the Indus Valley.
- Here in the Indus Valley, we use seals as labels for trading. The seals have many images drawn on them such as Rhinos, crocodiles, and tigers.
- Also here on our boat, I will join my father's friend Ali, who will give some information regarding trading in the Indus Valley.
- Our main trading partner is Mesopotamia. Some examples of things we trade are beads, gold, and silver.
