Sure! Until 1990, Nepal was a monarchy in control of the king Birendra. In 1990 he agreed to large scale political reforms creating PARLIMENTARY DEMOCRACY
Murthy sir, could you please tell me how Nepal changed from a Monarchy to a democracy?
The beginning of a national movement for democracy in Nepal was the ousting of the Ranas in the mid-20th century which was influenced by ethnic and political developments from the Indian nationalist movement,.However, this period of democracy ended in 1960 and the Panchayat system of government was introduced, abolishing recent democratic institutions.
But Birendra was killed in 2001, however the new king was not ready to accept democratic rule so in February 2005 the people and political parties made a massive movement for democracy.
On December 10, 2007 the interim parliament passed a bill that would make Nepal a federal republic, with Prime minister as head of state.
