George has a mouse in his pocket. He likes to stroke soft things but every time he has a mouse he accidently kills it because doesn't realize his own strength.
Curley's wife comes into the barn looking for her husband. Lenny thinks she is purty but George thinks she is trouble and tell Lenny to keep away from her.
George tells Slim about what happened in the town of Weed, Lenny spots a girl in a red dress. He wants to feel how soft the dress is. The girl starts screaming so Lenny panics and holds on tighter. George bashes him upside the head to get him to let go. The girl claims she was raped and the guys in town start a party out to lynch Lennie.
Slim's dog has puppy's and says Lenny can have one. Lenny can't wait to play with the puppy. Even though he was told they were too young to play with he did anyway. While playing with puppy he accidently kills it.
Culey's wife comes into the barn and starts talking with Lennie. She tells Lenny how soft and fine her hair is and tells him to touch it. Lenny touches it to long and she tells him to stop because he messing her hair up. He doesn't let go and she starts to scream. Lenny doesn't want to get into trouble so he can still tend the rabbits so he covers her mouth and kills her by accident by shaking her too much.
Lenny runs off to the bush by the creek where George told him to go if there was trouble. The rest of the farm goes on a hunt for him. George takes Carlson's revolver and goes to meet Lenny. He tells him the story of their dream and blasts him in the back of the head.
