Nelson Mandela was one of the key players in#160;ending the south African apartheid. He advocated many to use peaceful protests to advocate change in their country. He joined the ANC, a political organisation aimed to end the rule of the current south African leaders, becoming the leader in 1952. He lead on many speeches, and spread a lot of awareness on the subject. On June 12, 1964, he was sentenced to life in prison on#160;sabotage, treason, and violent conspiracy. He proceeded to write from prison about his experiences. He smuggled out a 500 page autobiography out of the prison he was in. In 1990 he was ordered out of prison after the anti apartheid president F.W De clerk came into power. Not so long after, Nelson Mandela was sworn into power
