- Netro is a black scholar, but one day he is misunderstood as unfree. He was caught by slave traders and started selling some slaves to make some money. John was a plantation owner who wanted to buy a slave to help him harvest cotton. He saw Netro, a very young black man, who could help him harvest cotton quickly, so he bought Netro for $100.

- After Netro was bought back by John, he took off his handcuffs to make it easier for him to work. John asked him to go to work but he was not convinced, but he had to do it because he would be punished. Then he went to the plantation to pick cotton.
