- The Divine Right of Kings means that their power has come from god and Absolute Monarchy have absolute power over everyone.
- The fourth one is Rousseau and he believes that there is a contract between a government and people is called the social contract. The people have the right to back out of the contract and can create a new government.
- There are 5 Enlightenment Thinkers and one of them is Hobbes. He believes that people are evil selfish, and make bad decisions, so this means that they need absolute monarchs.
- The third one is Montesquieu who thought that if the government that protects your rights is actually hurting your rights. He believes that there should be a separation of powers which is an executive, judicial government, and legislative government

- The last one is Voltaire and he believes that the government needs to be separated from the Church, so that there is greater tolerance in society.
- The second one is Locke and he believes that the people that are born into the world with natural rights and there are 3 natural rights which are Life, Liberty, and Property and the job is to protect the rights which government has to do.
- Hello, today I will be taking about the Declaration of Independence. My name is Thomas Jefferson and I am the primary author of the Declaration of Independence. This was written because we needed to justify breaking from government and that we make promises about inherent and fundamental liberties.

- The problem with Shay’s Rebellion was that this led to a new constitution, but the constitution was not very good. The Congress did not have taxes, so they couldn’t pay the soldiers and they were also being taxed more and they couldn’t work because there was fighting going on. The next thing that happens is that they now have taxes in the U.S.
