Storyboard Text

  • When rainwater seeps into the soil where there is vegetation, the roots of plants and the stems and branches contain tiny tubes running up the plant called capillaries. Water, which contains dissolved nutrients, gets inside the roots and starts climbing up the plant tissue.
  • Did you know that plants can make water evaporate? All thanks to transpiration, it is a process that involves loss of water vapour through the stomata of plants. The loss of water vapour from the plant cools the plant down when the weather is very hot, and water from the stem and roots moves upwards or is 'pulled' into the leaves.
  • The sum of evaporation from the land surface plus transpiration from plants is called 'evapotranspiration'. Water also evaporates directly into the atmosphere from soil in the vicinity of the plant. Any dew or droplets of water present on stems and leaves of the plant eventually evaporates as well.
  • Wow, I loved today's lesson about the water cycle! Thank you so much, Mr. Sun, for teaching me all these information!
  • And this was the water cycle! The water cycle will always follow the same process over and over - it will never get tired.
  • Bye, bye, Mr. Sun!
  • It was fun spending this adventure with you, we'll see each other again when you'll evaporate, bye!
  • THE END
