  • PHOTOSYNTHESIS
  • ALGAE GREEN PLANTSEVOLVED
  • Green plants evolved. The amount of carbon dioxide decreased and the amount of oxygen has increased
  • Slide: 4
  • In the first billion years of Earth's history the Earth was very hot as there was intense volcanic activity. Volcanoes gave out CO2, CH4 and H2O.
  • When LIVING THINGS died they fell to the seabed and became buried in layers of sediments and over millions of years this sediment became compressed MILLION OF YEARS to form sedimentary rock, oil and gas, which trapped the carbon, to stop it to getting back to the atmosphere.
  • SEDIMENTARY ROCK
  • OIL
  • GAS
  • Slide: 5
  • The Earth cooled. As the water vapour condensed into liquid water it formed the oceans and this allowed lots of the CO2 from the atmosphere to dissolve.
  • Water VapourNitrogenCarbon dioxide
  • We know that these gases were produced by volcanoes as they are produced by volcanoes today
  • During the first billion of years, the volcanic activity increased. This meant that lots of CO2 was created and other gases increased.

  • CREATES:NITROGEN
  • Lighting creates various gases but the main gas is nitrogen.
