Storyboard Text

  • The proclamation of 1763 was issued by king George lll. It stated that the colonists could not move west past the Appalachian Mountains which is the territory they fought over in the French and Indian war making the war useless. Eventually in 1768 land opened up to British settlement in what is now modern-day west Virginia and Kentucky.

  • The Townshend acts were made in 1767 and they taxed imports of paper, lead, and glass. They set up a new board to collect taxes in America, new courts, and gave British officials the right to search colonists house and businesses. This made them upset since they had to pay taxes without representation in parliament and have random soldiers enter your house.

  • The stamp act was a tax imposed on any paper and official documents it was created march 22 2nd 1765 and was repealed on the 18th of march 1766. The colonists were not happy because at the time you only could send letters and the only news came through newspapers.

  • The stamp act was a tax published in 1765 and was repealed in 1766 it taxed any imports of paper including official documents, newspapers, letters, and college degrees. It also taxed dice and playing cards which even further upset the colonists because back then newspapers were the only news and letters were the only form of communication.
