- But Bobby, you aren't alive. You don't need nutritious foods to grow because you can't grow. You don't have any cells that will multiply. Bobby, I think we need to talk.
- I'm Bobby the rock, and I haved come to the store today to buy nutritious foods, so I can grow and develop.
- You aren't alive because: -you don't have cells -you don't maintain homeostasis
- You aren't alive because you don't have cells. All living things are made of one or more cells. Also, you don't maintain homeostasis. Homeostasis means keeping a stable internal environment. You don't have an internal environment to take care of.
- Aw man!
- You aren't alive because: - you don't use energy -you don't respond to the environment
- I guess that's true.
- Also, you don't use energy. Living things need to use energy to maintain life and grow. Plus, you don't respond to the environment. Someone could slam you on your face, and you wouldn't care.
- You're going to make me cry!
- You aren't alive because: - you don't grow and develop - you don't have a genetic code called DNA
- The next reason, is that you don't grow and develop. We already covered this. Also, you don't have a genetic code called DNA. DNA is the blueprint for life. It is what gives you your hair color, or your nose size.
- That's it, you've officially done it, you have made me cry.
- You aren't alive because: -you can't reproduce -you can't move
- Another reason, is that you can't reproduce. All living things have the ability to reproduce. You can't move on your own either. Most living organisms have the ability to move.
