- I believe that Kurt Vonnegut wrote this short story as a way to show how crazy and wrong it can be to try to 'fit in'. When people hold themselves back from what they are gifted in, it can make life boring and very simple. These scenes I chose show that. In result of the government, in this case, wanting everyone to be the same in everything, Harrison goes crazy because he believes that what is fair can result in rebellion and other disruptive causes.
