- Mom! Raina is not listening to me! She is hearing music in her walkman.
- What song should I hear next??
- But Mango the Snake is dead right?? So does that mean it's safe to call shotgun?
- Lindsay! Come for dinner!
- Lindsay´s house/Introduction to all the Characters.
- Ok mom!
- Mom, I am hungry! Even Will is!
- AHHH! I am going to lose this game!!! Sorry Raina!
- After dinner, you can go to bed. In Lindsay´s living room!
- Dinner is ready Raina! Amara and Will are already hungry!
- Hey Lindsay.. Can I play?
- Ok dad & mom....
- Beginning of the Story: The Trip Starts!
- Who says I am not letting you draw on the table! This is no reason to fight!
- I want to draw on the desk!! Your not letting me!!
- Few Years Ago....
- This book is about two sisters named Amara and Raina. They always fight about little stuff which is not needed. Their mom planned a trip from California to Colorado to visit her sister and other relatives. Both Raina and Amara don´t know how they can survive in a car together for one week when they can't even at home. In the car ride to and from their aunt´s home, both Amara and Raina explore more about each other and improve their relationship so that they can work well together. In this story, they learn that they can achieve anything when they work together.
- Middle of the Story: Raina and Amara find each other lonely at their aunt's house.
- Maybe I can get you some color pencils that you wanted?
- FINE! Don´t think I will be nice to you again!
- At Lindsay´s house, Amara and Raina learn more about each other and how much they need each other. This is also the place where Raina feels more apart from her cousins. She feels left out. Since her favorite cousin, Lindsay, is way different from before. While Amara, always feels this way since there is no one her age to entertain her. All the characters here are Lindsay, Will, Amara, Raina, the mother and father, and the mother´s sister who is Lindsay´s mother.
- Ending of the Story: Raina and Amara work together!
- We can't kill him! He is family! I will give you batteries for your walkman, in exchange, I get to keep him.
- Fine! But don´t get him near me!
- If only mom was here right now...
- At the beginning of the story, Raina, Amara, Will, and their mother go on a long drive from California to Colorado to see relatives. Their dad went on a plane to Colorado due to him and the mother wanting to go separately. Raina never sat in the front seat since the day Mango escaped the plastic bag into the front seat. Raina always hated Mango the snake. Amara and Raina fought during the whole trip but, they tried to cooperate with each other. (Conflict): Both Raina and Amara hated each other since the day Amara got mad that she couldn't sit on the desk to draw. This hate towards each other started to grow which means they will get more distant from each other which should not happen. On their way to Colorado, they get caught in a huge storm. They decide to work together to find a nearby cabin to stay in. The next day, they go back on the road to a dinosaur park to take a stretch break. 1-2 days later, they reach their destination.
- Moral: Working together always solves problems
- It's nice that both of you girls made up! I knew this fighting wouldn't last forever!
- Same! Sorry Raina.
- Hey, sorry for fighting with you all those years Amara. I finally understand that we should be working together instead of fighting.
- Raina gets so excited to see her cousin Lindsay but, Lindsay has changed after the last reunion. Raina wanted to go rollerblading with her like when they did it when they were young but, Lindsay is more of a video game person now. Raina feels like she doesn't belong in any group with her cousins since she is way different from them. Raina has a teddy bear which made the cousins laugh so she tried to act cool by throwing it. But, Raina didn't want to throw her favorite bear. She goes outside to see Amara sitting on the porch, lonely. Raina tries to make her feel like she belongs somewhere by giving her some color pencils but, Amara refuses the offer saying see doesn't care if she is lonely. Raina gets mad and leaves thinking she hates everyone in the world. In the last day in California, Amara drew pictures for all the cousins which made Raina mad because she thinks Amara is trying to steal her cousins from her.
- Don´t you ever feel alone Amara? When your cousins don't even notice you?
- I honestly don't care that I am lonely.
- Like I said, I don´t care.
- On their way back to California, the engine of the car stopped. Amara and Raina had to stay in the car since the mother had to go get someone to fix the car. The mechanic place was two hours away which meant Amara and Raina had to stay in the car, alone for more than two hours. Hours past and Raina and Amara were getting hot in the car and were worried about their mother and Will. Few minutes later, Mango had appeared in the car! Both sisters couldn´t believe that he was alive but Raina was freaking out. Amara shoved the snake in the box with the help of Raina and gave Raina batteries for her walkman so that she could keep Mango. Hours past and their mother and Will arrived. Their mother hugged them to tell them that they were ok and took them to eat. Amara told what happened in the car and how they got mango. Both Amara and Raina learned that working together always solves everything. Also, they decided not to fight anymore.
- MANGO!!! How are you alive!!
- I´ll give you a bag! Then kill it outside!
- Amara and Raina learn that working together always solves problems. They learnt this when they were coming back from Colorado. They used teamwork to survive in the car together and to get mango in the bag so that no one gets hurt (also because Raina hates mango). From this, they learn, that there is no point in fighting with each other and it is better to work like a team to solve problems.
