Willy Loman returns home from work feeling worried because he is having trouble staying focused and remembering information. Linda, his wife tells him that he is tired and should stop traveling each week. She encourages him to request to work In New York. Willy is feeling worried.
Act 1: Scene VI
Willy Loman is actually in the kitchen at his house having a glass of milk but, his mind is remembering an event from the past. He is recalling the time he was outside coaching his two sons Biff and Happy through polishing their old Chevy. Willy is feeling nostalgic.
Act II: Scene 10
Willy and Linda are in the kitchen speaking about his earning from his last trip to New England. Willy tells his wife he sold $1200 but she is able to calculate his total to $200. He is forced to own up to his lies and becomes angry when the topic of bills come up. Willy is feeling agitated and being manipulative to his wife.
Act II: Scene 14
Willy is speaking with his wife Linda when he begins to describe how lonely and fearful he is afraid he will not sell anything again. Willy begins to reveal his insecurities to his wife when the woman from the hotel begins to respond to willy in his mind. Willy is feeling fearful and guilty about his affair. He is also finding it hard to tell the difference between events in the past and present.
Willy and the woman he is having an affair with our in a hotel room when his son Biff knocks at the door. Willy hides the woman in the bathroom but she comes out. Biff calls his dad a liar. In this scene, Willy is forced to realize his mistakes. His behavior is the result of his constant need for attention. Willy is feeling weak because he betrayed his wife and children.
Willie is feeling overwhelmed that Biff his son cares about him. As soon as everyone goes to bed, Willy is reminded of the insurance policy. He drives away in the car speeding and commits suicide. He is convinced that his family will respect him more if they are able to get the policy. Willy feels at peace with family. He determined to end his life.
