YOU'VE GOT NO HEART SON. STOP BEING SOFT HOSS!
CAN I EVEN COME BACK FROM THIS INJURY?
My pops was the one that introduced me to basketball, and I love him for it. We’d go to the park and get shots up together when I was young. There was no better feeling than playing basketball with my pops as a child. Once he saw my love for basketball, he made sure to keep me as close to it as possible.

In middle school, I was introduced to Coach Carl. He was the most aggressive coach I’ve ever had. He would get in our faces, yell/swear from the sidelines, and not care how our parents felt about it. I played for Carl until 10th grade. Without his constant harping, I indubitably wouldn’t have turned into the player I am now.
I don't wanna leave the guys and coach hanging. I might have to stick it out
It's okay son. We're gonna figure this out! Maybe we should transfer school
About six games into my freshman year, I suffered a stress fracture in my left foot; just like that, my freshman season was over. I remember my morale and confidence being at an all-time low because I was confined to cheering from the bench. I questioned if I would be able to bounce back and have the same athletic ability.
In sophomore season, my team would underperform just about every game. We finished with a 1-19 record. We lacked comradery since our two senior captains didn’t lead in the way they should’ve. They were at odds with our coach, and their tension was apparent. The combination of toxicity and losing had a devastating effect on me mentally.
After junior year, I didn’t feel like I was surrounded by guys who wanted to take this team as far as I did. I had previously made peace with that because my school wasn’t known for basketball. I couldn’t expect everyone on the team to have the same passion for basketball as me, but the pain still cut deep.
Lastly came senior year. We finished with an 11-6 record, heading into playoffs, where we would win my school’s first district championship since the ’60s. I shined in that game leading us to overcome a team we had a 1-1 record against in the regular season.
