  • Well trained
  • Outnumbered the Continental Army
  • Stronger government
  • The British were well trained with ammunition and knew more tactics. They were led by General William Howe and trained the soldiers very well. The british were very well supplied with ammnition and gunpowder.
  • Unaware of the battle sight
  • The British had plenty of more troops than the continental army. About 80,000 troops and there were about 30,000 hessians from germany. Having more troops means more gunfire and sadly killing the opponents faster.
  • Took long to get supplies
  • Britian was ruled by the King George III .Who was a tyrant for years to the colonies and very strict with taxes. Britian had a navy as well unlike the continental army which had no navy at all in the colonies.
  • Many soldiers were not motivaed to fight
  • British fought in territory that is unaware for them. It is hard for them because knowing where to hide will be difficult and what direction to head is diffcult as well. In that case guerilla warfare would be difficult.
  • Being far from britian could cause long waits for the supplies to arrive. They were fighting across the ocean so supplies would take weeks and days to arrive. The supplies had to come over the Atlantic ocean over 3000 miles away. As well as being need of troops would take time to arrive and would affect british combat.
  • Many soldiers were not ethiusastic or motivated to fight. This could cause laziness within the army and lack communication. Howe's intructions also were not the clearest and cause britian to make several mistake. The Continental army mistakes as well but britians mistakes were costly.
